The agreement provides for the arrival of two giant pandas from China by 2028, for a cooperation program lasting at least ten years, focusing on research, breeding, animal welfare, and international scientific exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"una-nuova-panda-city-in-europa\">Giant pandas in Munich, China-Tierpark Hellabrunn agreement, arrival by 2028: a new &quot;Panda City&quot; in Europe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">L&#8217;accordo tra Monaco di Baviera e la Cina \u00e8 andato a buon fine ed entro il 2028 arriver\u00e0 una coppia di panda giganti. Per accogliere i teneri orsetti, infatti, Hellabrunn realizzer\u00e0 una nuova panda-area di circa 5.000 metri quadrati nel settore Asia, con ampi recinti esterni, strutture interne climatizzate, vasche d\u2019acqua, colline e ricche piantumazioni di bamb\u00f9 per riprodurre l\u2019habitat naturale della specie. Il progetto sar\u00e0 finanziato dal Land Baviera con un investimento complessivo stimato in decine di milioni di euro e avr\u00e0 come obiettivo non solo il benessere degli animali, ma anche la creazione di un polo educativo sul panda gigante aperto a scuole, famiglie e turisti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"diplomazia-del-panda-e-conservazione\">Panda Diplomacy and Conservation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The presence of the pandas in Munich is part of a broader &quot;panda diplomacy&quot; strategy, through which China lends the animals to selected zoos in exchange for a formal commitment to conservation and research. The animals will remain the property of the People&#039;s Republic of China, and any cubs born at Hellabrunn will return to China after an agreed-upon period (usually upon reaching the age of four), contributing to the giant panda&#039;s ex situ breeding programs. For panda lovers and nature photographers, the new area will offer close-up observation points, themed trails, multilingual information panels, and digital content dedicated to the biology, behavior, and conservation status of the giant panda. The facility&#039;s opening, scheduled for early 2028 after the first spatenstich scheduled for 2026, will be accompanied by special events, awareness campaigns, and educational programs aimed particularly at Bavarian schools.
