The second edition of the Panda Bear Festival ended yesterday evening in Chengdu, in the south-western Chinese province of Sichuan – the beating heart and ancestral home of the giant panda. The prestigious award aims to highlight excellence and achievements in the fields of film, television production, documentary, and animation, through a mosaic of 27 competitive categories.

Italy shone on the world stage. The film “There's Still Tomorrow” won the coveted award for the Best Film, marking a prestigious success for national production. On the television front, the award for the Best TV Series was awarded to “She and Her Girls”. This last one is a touching work that tells the true story of Zhang Guimei, a headmistress from the remote mountainous areas of China who dedicated her life to promoting the emancipation and education of young rural women. Chinese animation celebrated her triumph with “Ne Zha 2”, crowned Best Animation, strong in its primacy as the highest-grossing Chinese film ever at the box office.
This year's edition exceeded all expectations in terms of participation, attesting to the growing global relevance of the award: as many as 1,000 entries were registered. 5,343 applications coming from 126 countries and regions. International proposals constituted a preponderant part, representing the 73,2% of the total. In conjunction with the ceremony, the Golden Panda International Cultural Forum 2025. Under the theme "Harmony in Diversity, a Future in Unity," the meeting brought together Chinese and international luminaries and figures. The primary goal of the Forum was to intensify dialogue and beyond, including cultural exchanges and cooperation between nations, fostering mutual enrichment among different global civilizations. Meanwhile, the third edition of the prestigious award, which will take place in 2027, is eagerly awaited.
